portable operating system interface for Unix

POSIX standartai statusas T sritis informatika apibrėžtis Standartų grupė, apibrėžianti operacinės sistemos sąsajas tarp joje veikiančių programų bei tarnybų. Pirmuosius standartus sukūrė Elektros ir elektronikos inžinierių institutas (IEEE) Linukso operacinių sistemų perkeliamumui užtikrinti, bet taip, kad tiktų ir kitoms operacinėms sistemoms. Vėliau jo pagrindu buvo sukurta standartų ISO/IEC 9945 grupė. POSIX standartuose formaliai apibrėžiami svarbiausi ↑kultūros elementai. Jie užrašomi kompiuteriui suprantamu pavidalu – taip, kad kompiuteris pats galėtų pagal juos automatiškai parinkti lokalės nuostatas.
